PART ONE: FOUNDATIONS

Over the past few months I've been on a mission to use up old beauty/make-up products. I can't explain the ridiculous sense of satisfaction and achievement I feel when scraping the last morsels of product from it's packaging. It's a small gratification I have almost become addicted to, and as a result go totally overboard on application - using up things like a mad woman. Consequently I've racked up quite a few empties to share with you, too many for one post. I've broken it up into a few categories, the first being foundations. Enjoy and if you have any empties posts of your own be sure to link them below - empties are my favourite kind of posts to read.

Clinique Redness Solutions Makeup SPF 15 (Calming Ivory): I've had this foundation sitting around for an embarrassing amount of time and so I decided I better use it up or toss it. I managed to use it all up over a 3 week period and was actually surprised by how much I liked the formula. Great for fighting shine and covering hyper-pigmentation. However I wouldn't repurchase based on the retail price $50AU (ouch!). Not worth it.

CHANEL Pro Lumiere Professional Finish Makeup (DISCONTINUED): I was matched at a Chanel event with shade 20 which looked amazing when she applied it to me in store but as soon as I got that sucker home the I noticed the 20 is way to dark and orange toned for me. I ended up making it work by mixing with a much lighter (in tone) and heavier (in texture) foundation (Illamasqua Rich Liquid Foundation). When mixed with the rich foundation I noticed the staying power was really improved, this probably wasn't the best foundation formula for my skin anyway, it tends to slip and slide all over my oily skin.

Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Treatment Makeup (120 Creamy Light Ivory): My only complaint about this product is it goes so quickly - this is my second bottle and I'm already into the third. The formula is gorgeous and feels more like a serum (very similar to Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum), I use as a "base" for smoothing/hydrating under a mineral powder foundation. Perfection.

Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay in Place Makeup SPF 10 (2N2 Freso): Again this shade is a at least 2 shades too dark for me, I don't know what it is about those department store lights that make my skin appear "tanner". I kept it to use as a "contouring" foundation on the perimeter of my face and blended with 1N1 Ecru. I didn't notice enough of a difference using a darker shade of foundation to contour and my colour match to blend. I will forever purchase Double Wear, my absolute favourite full coverage foundation that never fails me.

Vichy Dermablend Corrective Foundation (Opal 15): Described as a "total" coverage foundation this is serious stuff. I will always have a tube of this on hand for those days/nights when my skin is looking particularly awful and needs the coverage. I love the creamy texture and found the best way to apply is with a damp beauty blender. For something so full coverage it is surprisingly light and moisturising.
