No one makes a nail polish like Chanel, the sheer mention of the release of a new shade sends my heart all a flutter. In the past 15 years Chanel has really dominated the nail polish market by being the leading trendsetter in polish. In honour of the Australian release of the new Chanel polish 547 Pulsion, a deep cool pink creme, i've decided to take a look back over the years at all the Chanel polishes that have really caused a fuss. Enjoy!
18 Vamp -October 1994
This was the polish the started it all for Chanel, a beautiful vampy red, described by Chanel as the colour of dried blood. Vamp became a phenomenon when it was worn by Uma Thurman in Pulp Fiction. It is now a part of Chanel's permanent line.
219 Black Satin - July 2006
This has got to be the most perfect black nail polish on the market, this product has gone down in history as one of Chanel's most demanded products. It sold out in 5 months and i single bottle was known to go for $140 on eBay...... That person must be really kicking themselves now as Chanel has made it part of their permanent range. This is a fav of Victoria Beckham.
461 Blue Satin - January 2008
This is really a colour that grabs you, a follow up to Chanel's Black Satin this shade really speaks for itself. It was the colour of 2008 and was seen on everybody from Lindsay Lohan to Beyonce. This is now available on Chanel's website and in come boutiques.
407 Jade - September 2009
Probably the biggest fuss to ever come out of Chanel, this polish sold out in under an hour in most stores across the globe! You can pick yourself up a bottle from eBay for around $170USD!!!! The buzz was started when big time magazine Editors likened the colour to the green in Chanel's necklaces. This shade started my love for Chanel polishes (like i'm sure it did for many of you).
505 Particulere - January 2010
Chanel debuted this shade at their spring runway show, it fast became the "it" color of the season. A beautiful slate tinged taupe it is my favourite nail polish of all time and you can bet i'm sporting it atleast once a week. Popular with many beauty guru's like Lollipop26 & Michele1218. Some famous spotting's of Particulere include Lilly Allen and Sandra Bullock at the 2010 Golden Globes. You may be able to pick up a bottle from your local Chanel counter, though i warn you the waiting list can be ridiculous!
527 Nouvelle Vague - May 2010
Released with the summer Riviera collection, containing beautiful bright pinks and blues this robin's-egg blue has been spotted on the likes of Beyonce her "Why don't you love me?" music video. I adore the vintage feel of this polish, it makes me think of Tiffany's and Audrey Hepburn. I didn't manage to get my hands on this shade :( but i'm not willing to pay out the outrageous eBay prices! Let me know if you know anyone who wants to get rid of a bottle ;) i will gladly take it off their hands, no worries.
509 Paradoxel - July 2010
Seen on the stunning Rachel Bilson Paradoxal is a greyed mauve eggplanty plum with a purple shimmer. I've seen lots of pics of the shade and they all seem to differ, when i first bought it i was a little shocked that in real life it was so such different to the press pics. I guess it just depends on the lighting etc.
I hear the you can still pick this up at some Chanel counters but you'd have to call around.
Khaki Vert - October 2010
Chanel's contribution to the fall military trend released as part of the trio Khaki colour's - Khaki Vert, Khaki Brun and Khaki Rose. I jumped right on this band wagon picking up all 3 shades!! Celebrity fans include Jennifer Lopez and Selma Blair, Victoria Beckham, Jessica Simpson and Leann Rimes and model and Chanel ambassador Poppy Delevigne.
Which of these colour's do you have or lust after??
Those are all gorgeous colours! I really like the Paradoxel and Nouvelle Vague!
